Facebook Tests Aggregated Tags Linking External Sites

Facebook appears to be testing the linking of its aggregated tags on its news feed leading to destinations outside of the social network, rather than to Facebook pages on the topic.

Maypalo pointed out that an aggregated tag post about Sachin Tendulkar — who Friday became the first cricket player in the history of the sport to hit a 100th century — featured a link to the ESPN Cricinfo page dedicated to Tendulkars, rather than to a Facebook page devoted to the player or the sport.

A Facebook spokesperson would only say, “We’re always testing new features. We have nothing to announce at this time.”

Have you noticed any similar links in aggregated posts on your news feeds?
